Quality psychotherapy for adults and adolescents

Individual Therapy
Therapy can help people suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, adjustments problems, and many other concerns.

For my clients, I am here to be more than just a listening ear. I want to ask the tough questions and help clients create meaningful, long lasting changes in their lives, to truly unlock their potential. I am seeking adult and adolescent clients who want a thorough and challenging therapy experience. Our relationships, our thinking, our behaviors (and how they all work together) are the focus of my work.

Couples and Family Therapy
Sometimes it is helpful for a couple or family to enter therapy together. Patterns of interactions between people can be adjusted, communication improved, and functioning restored. I take a similar approach to work with couples and families as I do with individuals. People need to be challenged. When old patterns aren't working, it's time to try something new.

I have limited availability for new couples and family cases. Please contact me to inquire.
Qualified
I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I am a licensed Psychologist in New York State.
Experienced
I have a wide variety of clinical experiences in addition to my private practice. I have worked in college counseling, inpatient mental health, and community mental health.
Flexible
I understand that my clients have busy lives. I offer evening appointments on Thursdays and daytime appointments on Saturdays in my offices in Pittsford and Rochester.
ABOUT ME
Helping my clients lead better lives is my ultimate goal. I am a licensed psychologsit and I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. I have done clinical work with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings - outpatient, inpatient, and community-based work, but the majority of my clinical experience is with college students in university counseling centers. I am an Associate Professor at Alfred University and I teach in AU's graduate programs in counseling and college student development. I believe that my practice informs my teaching and my teaching informs my practice. I take my work seriously and let several key values shape my clients' therapy:
  • Therapy is collaborative. We work together to figure out what you want to work on and how that will go. You always have a say about what happens.
  • Transparency is important. I share my impressions of what is happening. I don't think clients want me to just smile and nod and tell them that everything is great when it's not.
  • To do that, I tell clients what I'm thinking, why I'm thinking it, and why I think they need to hear it.
  • I maintain a relatively small caseload so that my clients can get weekly sessions. I find that therapy works best when it becomes part of someone's weekly routine.

Fees

Appointments

My hourly charge is $175. I am a credentialed provider with BlueCross BlueShield, so if you have an insurance plan through BCBS, including Excellus, I can bill your insurance company directly. You would only be responsible for your copay or deductible, which can be paid by cash or credit card.

For clients enrolled in other insurance plans, you may be able to be reimbursed as an "out of network" benefit. I will gladly provide you with a statement that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
I see clients on Thursdays and Saturdays for 50-60 minute appointments. The office has ample parking outside and is wheelchair accessible.

If this is your first appointment, there will be some paperwork for you in the waiting area. If you'd like to save some time, click to the right to download the Informed Consent document, New Client Questionnaire, and Notice of Privacy Practices. Please do not email these to me - instead, bring them to your appointment.
